PREPARATION OF MAIN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF INTERSECTION „SOPOT“ ON HIGHWAY E80 NIŠ – DIMITROVGRAD

About the project:

Intersection „Sopot” is located on the sub-section Stanicenje – Sarlah (motorway E80 Nis – Dimitrovgrad), which was put into operation in early 2019. Once built, the intersection will take the Niš-Pirot and Knjaževac-Pirot state roads across the E80 motorway.

In this way, the shortest and fastest connection between Bela Palanka and Pirot with the Park of nature “Stara Planina”, Temska Monastery and Knjaževac will be achieved, thus giving impetus to tourism development and general progress of the Stara planina Mountain villages and gravitating parts of Eastern Serbia.

Scope of works:

The project includes preparation of main design and construction of three‐way deleveled intersection on crossing of Highway E80, Niš – Dimitrovgrad, section: Staničenje – Šarlah with state road IIA No.259 (Knjaževac – Pirot) and state road IIA No.221 (Niš – Pirot).

An overpass in total length  L=104,90 m, with 4 spans l=26.35+26.10+26.10+26.35 m will be constructed. It is prefabricated pre-stressed I girders of 1,00 m high and  founded on piles Ø=1500 mm.

In addition to construction of overpass and connection roads, project includes works on traffic signalization and equipment and works on electrical installations.

About the project:

The project includes heavy maintenance (upgrading) of the state road IA3 (motorway) in total length of L=13,75 km (left cariageway) and L=13,10 km (right cariageway). Works on section with the biggest traffic load in the Republic of Serbia will be executed under the traffic, i.e. without total traffic stoppage.

The works include the following:

  • preliminary works,
  • works on road base and superstructure,
  • rehabilitation works on structures (bridges),
  • works on improvement of drainage system,
  • works on road belt,
  • works on placing of traffic signalization and equipment and
  • works on public lightning.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE SECTION: OKUČANI – BORDER OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA / FIRST PHASE: BRIDGE ON THE STATE BORDER OVER THE SAVA RIVER

General information:
The inter-state bridge on the Sava River west (upstream) of Gradiška is part of the European interconnecting road E-661 connecting Split with Banja Luka, Virovitica and Balaton, i.e. with already constructed Banja Luka – Gradiška motorway (commissioned in 2013) with a future motorway: border – Okučani – Virovitica – Balaton.

The construction of the bridge is part of the overall work on the construction of a functional road on the section border – Okučani, which includes, among other things, a full profile of motorway on the Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) side, a four-lane motorway on the Republic of Croatia side, two separate border crossings and access roads. Upon completion of works, this road unit will enable faster traffic of people and goods, smooth and efficient performance of tasks of control bodies, and normal living in Gradiška, which is now very burdened.

The structure is a continuous single-cell steel box girder with consoles on both sides. The designed length of bridge is 462,25 m. The bridge width is Bv=22.60 m.

Scope of works:  
– construction of span structure of length of l=128,00+170,00+128,00=426,0 m and width of Bv=22,60 m;
– construction of section of motorway on the territory of the Republic of Croatia of length of  l =50,79 m and section of Gradiška – Banja Luka (Mahovljani) motorway in length of l =411,54 m on which the underpass will be constructed too, and
– placing of modern traffic control telecommunication equipment, the installation of traffic and navigation signalization, road equipment and public lighting.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE BRIDGE OVER THE TREBIŠNJICA RIVER IN TREBINJE

About the project:
The bridge over the Trebišnjica River in Trebinje is the biggest and the most important structure on the future east bypass that will connect roads for Herceg Novi and Dubrovnik with roads toward Bileća and Nikšić. The construction of east bypass shall relieve the center of Trebinje from traffic and significantly reduce travel time. The main bridge structure is a monolith reinforced prestressed concrete structure with 13 spans. The designed length of bridge amounts to l=484 m, and the width amounts to Bv=11.60 m.

Scope of works:
The construction of bridge structure will be performed using incremental launch method. The span structure is designed as continuous, prestressed box structure with vertical walls and spans of 26.00 + 4 x 36.0 + 2 x 54.0 + 5 x 36.0 + 26.00 = 484.00 m. The bridge width is 11.60 m.

The design envisages three foundation types: shallow foundation in axes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, drilled shaft foundations in axes 6 and 7 and pile foundation in axis 8.

The piers are 2.50 m in diameter and they are of different heights. The height of piers: in axis 2 – 8.5 m, in axis 3 – 12.5 m, in axis 4 – 19.5 m, in axis 5 – 26 m, in axes 6 and 7 – 28.0 m, in axes 8 and 9 – 23.0 m, in axis 10 – 21.0 m, in axis 11 – 14.0 m, in axis 12 – 10.0 m and in axis 13 – 9.0 m.

The bridge construction project includes the installation of traffic signalization and bridge equipment, as well as of public lighting.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE MOTORWAY SECTION ON CORRIDOR 5C THROUGH THE REPUBLIKA SRPSKA FROM JOHOVAC INTERCHANGE (TOVIRA) TO RUDANKA INTERCHANGE (KOSTAJNICA)

Trans-European Corridor 5C is the main transportation route in Bosnia and Herzegovina from north to south. It connects Budapest (Hungary) with the Adriatic port of Ploče (Croatia). The total length of Corridor 5C is 335 km in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The motorway on Corridor 5C on the territory of the Republika Srpska from Doboj to Vukosavlje will be constructed in the length of 46.6 kilometers. It is foreseen that the whole section of the motorway will be constructed through four projects (contracts) from which the section from the Johovac Interchange (Tovira) to the Rudanka Interchange (Kostajnica) will be constructed first.

The company Integral Inženjering a.d. (PLC) is very proud that it was selected together with Granit a.d. (Skopje) as the main Contractor for this project on a very demanding international tender.

The scope of the Contract is the design documentation preparation and the execution of the following works:

– construction of the motorway section in the total length of l = 5.65 km with all auxiliary structures;
– construction of the Rudanka Interchange (Kostajnica) of trumpet shape with facilities and toll collection system;
– construction of the Johovac Interchange (Tovira) of T-shape;
– construction of 18 structures which include: 2 viaducts, 8 bridges, 4 underpasses and 4 passes;
– placing of modern telecommunication installation for traffic management on the motorway;– installation of traffic signs and equipment;
– placing of noise protection walls;
– drainage of the motorway alignment and the regulation of riverbeds;
– relocation of electrical installations, and
– lighting installation.

EXECUTION OF THE PART OF WORKS ON LANDSLIDE STABILIZATION IN THE ZONE OD THE CUT No. 2 FROM KM 876+075 TO KM 876+225, PHASE II WITHIN THE PROJECT OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE MOTORWAY E75, SECTION: GRDELICA (GORNJE POLJE) – CARIČINA DOLINA LOT1: ROAD AND BRIDGES FROM GRDELICA TO THE TUNNEL PREDEJANE

General information on the project:
Corridor 10 is one of the most significant Pan-European transport corridors that run through Serbia. The program of the construction of Corridor 10 through Serbia is implemented through four projects that are divided into sections, and sections into lots (contracts).
Integral inženjering a.d. is the main contractor on the section Caričina Dolina – Vladičin Han, LOT 5: Roads and bridges on the subsection Caričina Dolina – tunnel Manajle.
The contractor on the section Grdelica (Gornje Polje) – Caričina dolina, LOT 1: Road and bridges from Grdelica to the tunnel Predajane is the Joint Venture (JV) “Azvi SA (Spain) and Taddei SpA (Italy)”.
Due to especially complex conditions, the Investor allocated the part of works on the new stabilization of the Cut 5 on the section Grdelica (Gornje Polje) – Caričina dolina, LOT 1: Road and bridges from Grdelica to the tunnel Predajane to the company “Integral inženjering”.

 

Design solution and contents of works:

Permanent landslide stabilization and protection of the motorway route in the zone of the Cut 2 will be realized by constructing the protective structure (covered gallery on piles) and three independent structures from piles Ø = 2.000 mm, of lengths l = 25 and 30 m.

Protective covered gallery, of the total length l = 150 m, is founded on bored piles Ø = 1.500 mm, of lengths l = 15-21 m on distances of s = 3 m. The piles are connected with the capping beam of length l = 151.80 m. Above piles on the left and in the middle of two pavement profiles, RC columns of diameter d = 1.20 were built at the distance of s = 3 m, that are connected at the top with bearing beams. The piles on the right side are connected by the capping beam, and there are RC walls between piles. The works were completed at the end of April 2019.

The first and the second structures that are made of piles are planned on the first and third berm looking from below, and the structure is made of bored piles Ø = 2.000 mm, of length = 25 m, which are placed at distances s = 5.0 m. The piles are connected by the capping beam of dimensions 2.50 x 1.20 m, of length of about l = 130 m.

The third structure made of piles is planned on the sixth berm looking from below, and it is composed of bored piles Ø = 2.000 mm, of length l = 30 m, placed at distances s = 5.0 m. The piles are connected by the capping beam of dimensions 2.50 x 1.20 m, of length l = 105.57 m.

Additional stability of protective structures that are made of piles is provided by the two rows of pre-stressed anchors at each structure. The design planned permanent pre-stressed anchors made of 6 cables Ø = 15.7 mm, of bearing capacity Fpk (kN)=1593 kN, of length ls = 30+10 = 40 m. Anchors for both structures are installed on the capping beam, in two rows at the distance s = 2.5 m.

Relieving of excavation will be performed at several levels of height of approximately 10 m with inclination 1:1, i.e. from above downwards. Between each two levels, the berm of width of about 5 m is planned and each berm will carry the channel for drainage of surface waters from the slope. The distance of the lowest, i.e. the first berm from the planned gallery is about 20 m. After each level is excavated, it will be permanently protected by installation of flexible system of composite mesh and SN anchors Ø =32 mm.

Basic Project Data:

The Project includes the reconstruction of existing and construction of new railway track on section Dugo Selo – Križevci in the total length of l=36.38 km.

This is a part of large project of establishing of modern double-track railway on the Mediterranean Corridor of the unique Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) (Transport Corridor RH2). After work completion, there will be possible to achieve the nominal design speed of 160 km/h on the whole railway section.

Due to the work delays, the Contractor terminated the Contract with previous Subcontractor and concluded the Contract with Integral inženjering a.d. (PLC).

Scope of works:

Integral inženjering a.d. (PLC) executes works on the construction of railway substructure, construction of railway structures (13 bridges, 7 underpasses and 81 culverts), construction of grade-separated railway crossing with roads (11 overpasses and 1 underpass), construction of service roads and reconstruction of Ivana Gorana Kovačića Street.

EXECUTION OF THE PART OF WORKS ON THE NEW STABILIZATION OF THE CUT 5 FROM KM 879+350 TO KM 879+775 WITHIN THE PROJECT OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE MOTORWAY E75, SECTION: GRDELICA (GORNJE POLJE) – CARIČINA DOLINA, LOT 1: ROAD AND BRIDGES FROM GRDELICE TO THE TUNNEL PREDAJANE

Due to especially complex conditions, the Investor allocated the part of works on the new stabilization of the Cut 5 on the section Grdelica (Gornje Polje) – Caričina dolina, LOT 1: Road and bridges from Grdelica to the tunnel Predajane to the company “Integral inženjering”.

Design solution and contents of works:

Permanent stabilization of the slope of the Cut 5 is executed in two phases, by constructing three supporting structures (walls) – K1, K2 and K3.

In the first phase, the construction of K1 of length l = 411.48 m was performed. The structure K1 contains 181 RS piles ø = 1.500 mm, of length l = 16.18 and 20 m, laid out in two rows. All piles are connected by capping beam (slab) of thickness of 1.2 m and width of 6.0 m. On the slab, the wall of height of 5.92 m with buttresses at every 2.25 m was constructed.

The stability of the structure K1 is ensured by incorporation of 361 permanent electro-insulated prestressed anchors (8Ø15.2 mm), of length l = 40.00 m. Anchors are placed in two rows. In the lower row on the pile capping beam, 180 anchors were installed at distances of λ = 2.25 m. In the upper row on the RC wall, 181 anchors were installed at distances λ = 2.25 m, so that they run through the buttresses of the wall. The construction of the structure K1 was completed in October 2018.

 

In the second phase, which is ongoing, the supporting structures K2 and K3 are being built.

The structure K2 is of length l = 363.70 m, and it contains 161 RC piles ø = 1.500 mm, of lengths l = 26 and 36 m, alternately placed in two rows at the distance s = 4.50 m.

The structure K3 is of length l = 205.22 m, containing 91 RS piles ø = 1.500 mm, of lengths l = 21 and 36 m, alternately placed in two rows at the distance s = 4.50 m.

Additional stability of structures K2 and K3 is provided by installation of permanent electro-insulated geotechnical anchors (5Ø15.7 mm).

Broader context of the Project:
The design of using of hydro system Trebišnjica is based on the construction of several hydro technical structures (dams, accumulations, open channels, tunnels and hydro power plants) with which water from karst fields of East Herzegovina is used for irrigation, control of floods and production of electricity. The construction of 7 hydro power plants and 6 accumulation basins in the system is planned to be constructed for production of electricity.
Four hydro power plants, which use water from “Bileća” accumulation basin are constructed up to now: HPP Trebinje I, HPP Trebinje II, HPP Dubrovnik and HPP Čapljina. They were successively commissioned from 1965 (HPP Dubrovnik) to 1981 (HPP Trebinje II).
Remaining 3 hydro power plants belong to subsystem “Gornji horizonti” and as it follows: HPP Nevesinje (61 MW), HPP Dabar (160 MW) and HPP Bileća (30 MW).
The subsystem “Gornji horizonti” includes using of water on section of the Gatačko field – the Zalomka river – the Nevesinje field – the Dabar field – the Fatnica field – the Bileća accumulation. Some water from north-west part of Nevesinje field will be used in this system in the final phase.

HPP Dabar is the first hydro power plant which will be constructed in area of Gornji horizonti.
The water from Pošćenje accumulation to HPP Dabar is carried through headrace tunnel of length of 12.1 km. The headrace tunnel passes through two different geological zones. The inlet structure is located near riverbed of the Zavidolska river and it is far from Pošćenje dam about 3.5 km. The grid and gate for tunnel closure for needs of control and maintenance are designed to be constructed. Two access tunnels (Straževica in length of 830 m and Vodostan in length of 295 m) are designed to be constructed for work execution.

Construction of the canal through the Field Fatničko from the end of the balancing reservoir Pađeni to the tunell Dabar – Fatnica

Broader context of the Project:

The subsystem “Gornji horizonti” includes using of water on section of the Gatačko field – the Zalomka river – the Nevesinje field – the Dabar field – the Fatnica field – the Bileća accumulation. Some water from north-west part of Nevesinje field will be used in this system in the final phase.

The channel through Fatnica field is used for water passing from exit of Dabar – Fatnica tunnel to the entrance of Fatnica headrace tunnel – HPP Bileća which is in the construction phase.

The works are diveded in two sections:
Section 1 (l =2.086 m): is dimensioned on the flow Qmax=121,50 m3/s, which is the maximum capacity of the tunnel Fatnica – Bileća. Cross-section of canal is a trapezoidal canal bottom width 10m and slope 1:1,5. Reinforced concrete MB30 lining thickness 20 cm will be performed in sections length of 5m.

Section 2 (l = 491 m): is dimensioned on the flow Qmax=93,00 m3/s, which is the maximum capacity of the tunnel Dabar – Fatnica. Cross-section of canal is a trapezoidal canal with  slope 1:1,5.

Reinforced concrete MB30 lining thickness 20 cm will be performed in sections length of 5m.

Project includes construction of the bridge, which span is 27,40 m.

Broader context of the Project:
The design of using of hydro system Trebišnjica is based on the construction of several hydro technical structures (dams, accumulations, open channels, tunnels and hydro power plants) with which water from karst fields of East Herzegovina is used for irrogation, control of floods and production of electricity. The construction of 7 hydro power plants and 6 accumulation basins in the system is planned to be constructed for production of electricity.

Four hydro power plants, which use water from “Bileća” accumulation basin are constructed up to now: HPP Trebinje I, HPP Trebinje II, HPP Dubrovnik and HPP Čapljina. They were successively commissioned from 1965 (HPP Dubrovnik) to 1981 (HPP Trebinje II).

Remaining 3 hydro power plants belong to subsystem “Gornji horizonti” and as it follows: HPP Nevesinje (61 MW), HPP Dabar (160 MW) and HPP Bileća (30 MW).

The subsystem “Gornji horizonti” includes using of water on section of the Gatačko field – the Zalomka river – the Nevesinje field – the Dabar field – the Fatnica field – the Bileća accumulation. Some water from north-west part of Nevesinje field will be used in this system in the final phase.

The channel through Fatnica field is finished with compensation basin in Pađeni which surface is P= 8,914 m2, and volume is V= 49,000 m3.

Contracted works include:
-excavation in dilapidated limestone 70,000 m3;
-construction of RC balancing reservoir;
-construction of the section of RC channels;
-construction of the RC supporting structures, in total quantity of hydrotechnical concrete of 10,523 m3;
-ancillary works.
